The main vision of CORE Platform, a non-profit organisation which is under the patronage of His Excellency, the President of Malta, is to raise awareness about and to disseminate the concepts of Corporate Citizenship and Corporate Social Responsibility across the Maltese islands.

It is composed of the leading business organisations in the country, namely the Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry; the Malta Hotels and Restaurants Association (MHRA); the Malta Employers Association (MEA); the Malta Business Bureau (MBB); the Malta Chamber of SMEs; as well as Solidarity Overseas (SOS) Malta, which represents the voluntary and civil society sector. CORE Platform is also a member and national partner of CSR Europe, which is the largest CSR lobby group in Europe.

As of 1st May, CORE Platform is also running a Europe Direct Centre. As a centre, ED CORE Platform will primarily be offering an information service on current European priorities, namely the ‘European Green Deal’ and a ‘Europe Fit for the Digital Age’; as well as other issues of a European nature, and guidance on practical assistance that exists to implement these policies.

With the main issue on everyone’s mind right now being the pandemic and how we are going to adapt to the ‘new normal’, ED CORE Platform is confident that it can help the business community in this process of recovery, and this is how it will set about achieving its mission:

1. Promoting the European Green Deal

The European Green Deal places great emphasis on boosting the efficient use of resources by moving to a clean, circular economy; and restoring biodiversity and cutting pollution. This will require the engagement and cooperation of the business community. Due to having all relevant social partners on its board, Core Platform is best placed to effectively communicate these matters to this specific target audience.

2. Helping in the digital transition

Similarly, the priority to create a Europe fit for the digital age – the EU’s digital strategy aimed to make this transformation work for people and businesses, while helping to achieve its target of a climate-neutral Europe by 2050 – is best communicated through targeted events. A digital transition can help businesses of all sizes to recover from the pandemic, to innovate and to grow.

3. Working with businesses of all sizes:

ED Core Platform will ensure that it communicates in a way that factors in the realities of businesses of all sizes, including micro-businesses which make up the vast majority of enterprises in Malta.

4. Engaging young people

ED CORE Platform will also be focusing on students and schools, since it fundamentally believes in the potential of youths in contributing to creating better outcomes and in fostering innovation and an entrepreneurial culture.

5. Partnering up with the media

ED CORE Platform will also be working with the media community, because it believes that the media is an important pillar of a functional democracy and a crucial partner that should be engaged to ensure that quality information is adequately disseminated and easily accessed.

To achieve its mission, ED CORE will be organising a series of activities, including webinars, Facebook ‘Lives’ and a number of visits at various organisations across the Maltese Islands. The first event, which will mark the launch of ED CORE Platform and also coincide with Europe Day 2021, is being held this coming Monday 10th May.
