Ta’ Xbiex-based Atlas Insurance took to social media to bid farewell to Director Franco Azzopardi after almost 10 years of service.

Mr Azzopardi joined the insurance company in October 2012 and had, up until this month, also served as Chairman of Atlas’ Audit Committee and Risk and Compliance Committee.

“Thank you, [Mr Azzopardi] for ten years of active contribution to Atlas Insurance’s excellent performance. Your business acumen on our Board and leadership of our Group Audit Committee has been very much appreciated,” the company wrote.

Soon after the post was published, Mr Azzopardi took to its comments section to look back on his experience at the company.

“A big thank you to the investors of Atlas Insurance for having placed their trust in me to be on their Board of Directors for the last 10 years. It was a learning academy for me, exposing me to a scientific dimension in the art of entrepreneurship,” he wrote.

“Insurance is one sector that is heavily regulated to protect policy holders and this regulatory regime, lest heavily technical, gave me the blade and skill to cut through the foggy topic of capital and risk management applicable to any business.

“Atlas Insurance’s boardroom gave me a lot of formative knowledge which builds on to my corporate finance and strategy background and which intersect and forge themselves into the craft of business management. I will cherish this experience. I hope I left my mark somehow too,” he concluded.

Mr Azzopardi occupies the post of Director and CEO at Express Trailers Ltd – a local market leader of the logistics industry specialising in providing a total logistics solution from a single source.

The CEO also serves as Director and Audit Committee Chairman at APS Bank plc, RS2 Software plc, and Grand Harbour Marina plc.

Mr Azzopardi is also the Founder and Principal of Franco Azzopardi Consulting and Non-Executive Chairman at 3a Accountants.
