Adrian Muscat has been appointed Executive Chairman at Juel Group plc, the company announced on Wednesday.

His appointment came during a Board of Directors meeting that was held right after the Annual General Meeting.

Founded in 2016 and operating from Malta, Juel Group plc is involved in the development of real estate, and is also set to expand into the hospitality sector through the development of a new Hyatt Centric Malta hotel in Swieqi. Last month, the property development and hospitality company received approval for the issue of €5 million unsecured notes.

This change in Chairman was made after George Muscat, Mr [Adrian] Muscat’s father and previous Chairman, passed away on 22nd September 2023.

Mr Muscat is the majority shareholder of Juel Group plc, and is also a founding member and Director of GAP Holdings Limited, a company which Juel Group is a shareholder of.

In his new role, Mr Muscat will be supported by Justin Cutajar, who was appointed Executive Director in the aforementioned meeting. Mr Cutajar is presently Executive Director of The Ona plc and GAP Group plc, while also being an accountant by profession and holds various directorships in private companies of which he is also a shareholder. Some of these companies are involved in property development.

Additionally, Juel Group also expressed gratitude to Robert C. Aquilina for his valid contribution as interim Chairman of the company following the demise of Mr [George] Muscat. Mr Aquilina will return to his role as independent Non-Executive Director.

The Board of Directors is hence now made up of Mr Muscat as Chairman, Mr Cutajar as Executive Director, Mr Aquilina, Mario Camilleri and Dennis Gravina as independent Non-Executive Directors, and Karen Coppini as Company Secretary.
