agility

Recruitment processes are changing, and the global pandemic has had a hand it that. How much can new recruits deal with change and upheaval? Their ability to do so certainly carries value in a new and different post-COVID work environment.

For Daniel Dackombe, Global Head of Corporate Sales at Unity Technologies in the UK – a leader who has “interviewed over 130 people in the last 12 months” – agility is a core competence that should be high on a recruiter’s list.

“We are all familiar with IQ and EQ – I’m now a BIG believer in the importance of the professional and personal skill set around AQ or ‘Agility Quotient’,” he wrote, saying AQ is tied to self-awareness, coach ability and being to be able to stay in a balanced and adult sense of self during turmoil and change.

“Agility and balanced thinking drives performance and comes from a place of authentic self-awareness,” he shared

This relatively new field has been explored in depth by Susan David, psychologist at Harvard Medical School and TED speaker, who shared that individuals who are hooked into a particular way of thinking or behaving “are not really paying attention to the world as it is”.

“Recognise thought patterns that don’t serve your values and take the time to create real change within your life,” she asserts.
