David Curmi

David G. Curmi, Executive Chairman at national carrier Air Malta, revealed that he received a hand-signed note from Pope Francis himself following his visit to the Maltese islands.

The Pope arrived in Malta on Saturday 2nd April for a two-day Apostolic Visit of Malta and Gozo. Throughout his short-yet-busy stay, His Holiness toured several spots around the islands, such as Hal Far’s Peace Lab and Floriana’s Granaries, where he was welcomed by crowds of onlookers.

Mr Curmi had accompanied Pope Francis on his flight back to Rome following the conclusion of his Apostolic Visit.

“Very thankful to His Holiness the Pope for this hand-signed note thanking the management and staff of Air Malta,” Mr Curmi wrote on social media.

Pope Francis’ note reads as follows:

“I am writing to express my gratitude to you and to the management and staff of Air Malta for the generous hospitality shown to me on the occasion of my recent Apostolic Journey to Malta.

“The kindness, courtesy, and attention shown on the return flight to Rome were deeply appreciated and made my Journey all the more pleasant.

“Upon you and all who assist in the work of Air Malta, I cordially invoke Almighty God’s abundant blessings of joy and peace.

Said journey was Pope Francis’ 36th in his current capacity and the first to take place in 2022.
