Matthew Sciberras

Matthew Sciberras has been appointed Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), Vice President (VP) of Information Security at web application security company Invicti Security, he announced on Wednesday. While the firm is headquartered in Texas, United States, he will be working at its offices in Birkirkara, Malta.

As a result of his new position, Mr Sciberras has left his role as VP of Information Security at Malta-based iGaming firm Esports Entertainment Group, a year that he labelled as an “exciting journey”. He proceeded to thank his colleagues and the management team for its “ongoing support”.

Mr Sciberras shared that he is “thrilled” to be joining Invicti Security, and “can’t wait to grow and learn during this new chapter” in his life.

“Moving away from iGaming is tough, however joining an Enterprise Grade InfoSec organisation is literally an offer I couldn’t refuse,” he concluded.

Mr Sciberras is vastly experienced within the IT and information security space and describes himself as “well-versed in devising and executing information security manuals and key processes”. Prior to his time at Esports Entertainment Group, he worked at Betsson Group, where he served in various senior roles, including almost four years as Director of Information Security. Mr Sciberras was also the Founder of IT consultancy company MaltaICT, along with Senior IT Consultant and Technical Trainer at higher education institution Domain Group Malta. He also served as Head of IT Infrastructure / ISMS Manager at Skillcast for almost eight years, and Senior Technical Trainer at Atlas Technology Group.

Founded by Ferruh Mavituna in 2005, Invicti Security aims to “transform the way web applications are secured”. It enables organisations from various industries to “continuously scan and secure all of their web applications and application programming interfaces at the speed of innovation”. The company has operations in nine locations across the globe and has secured more than 800,000 web applications, as well as served over 3,600 customers.
