“As I step down as Director of Apollon FC, I must reiterate what a pleasure it has been to serve in this position. To top it off, we won the championship after 16 years,” he wrote on social media.

“But as one journey ends, a new one can begin, and the one which I am about to undertake is one that is most eagerly anticipated,” he continued.

Mr Schembri’s journey with Apollon Limassol FC began in June 2017, when he joined the club as a player. He left the Cypriot club a year-and-a-half later to play for Chennaiyin FC in India only to return to Apollon Limassol in 2020 as a Football Coach.

He served in said capacity for a year before taking on the role of Director of Football.

Apollon Limassol FC was founded in 1954 and is known to be one of the most successful clubs in Cyprus and the most successful in Limassol.

The Cypriot Club has won the championship title four times (1991, 1994, 2006, and 2022), the cup nine times, and the Super Cup three times.

Following the end of his career as a Footballer in 2020, Mr Schembri co-founded Traainer, an integrated network of multidisciplinary specialists coordinating individual athlete preparation and performance support.
