Andrew Bonnici has announced that he has started a new position as VP Product, Platforms & Data at major gambling player IGT.
He took to LinkedIn to share his excitement: “Really exciting 2023 ahead of us with a combined team of some of the most experienced, smart people in the industry working together under the Playdigital umbrella.”
Mr Bonnici previously served as Chief Product Officer and Company Director at iSoftBet, having been with the company since 2018.
iSoftBet was recently acquired by IGT in a deal worth a reported €160 million.
The new VP also spent over four years with Betsson, moving up the ranks from Data Product Owner to become its Head of Data Science and Business Intelligence.
He describes himself as “a senior manager and director that loves organising and transforming teams into efficient and high performance organisations”.
“My experiences span across the high tech, banking and online gaming industries. I have managed small agile teams as well as 70+ person departments with multi-million budgets.
“I love a good challenge and am willing to disrupt the status quo.”
Initially graduation from University of Malta with a degree in physiology, Mr Bonnici pivoted to technology with a degree from the University of Nottingham in computing and information systems.
He is currently reading for an executive MBA from the University of Cambridge.
IGT is one of the largest gambling companies in the world, with a footprint in over 100 countries.
In 2006, Italian gambling company Lottomatica acquired the US-based Gtech, and adopted its name. In 2015, the company also acquired the Las Vegas slot machine producer International Game Technology, once again adopting the name of its new acquisition.
