Daniel Azzopardi, Artistic Director at Valletta arts hub Spazju Kreattiv took to social media to celebrate the launch of the entity’s programme of events for the 2022/23 season.
The programme, which runs from September 2022 to July 2023, includes over 560 events and comprises a General Programme, a Film Programme, Artists’ Residency, and the ZiguZajg Season Programme.
Collectively, the four programmes will involve well over 400 artists who will execute upwards of 100 projects, excluding film screenings.
“We look forward to hosting you for a year full of exciting initiatives about highly intriguing and topical subjects,” Mr Azzopardi wrote.
In the booklet’s foreword, the Artistic Director noted how the programme “builds on what good has been achieved before with a highly diverse selection of artists, subjects, and creative forms.”
“As the sector comes to terms with the effects of the pandemic and the ensuing war, we are launching a season of events which seeks to be relevant to the state of world affairs, offer space for creative development, and provide more avenues for networking and public participation,” Mr Azzopardi added.
Those involved in the Spazju Kreattiv 2022/23 programme range from industry stalwarts and governmental entities to students and up-and-coming performers.
Mr Azzopardi has helmed Spazju Kreattiv as Artistic Director since August 2020, having previously served as Programme Senior Manager for upwards of four years.
Before joining Spazju Kreattiv, Mr Azzopardi served as a Festival Manager at the Valletta International Visual Arts Festival, as Festival Director at the ZiguZajg International Arts Festival, and as a Freelance Cultural and Creative Entrepreneur.
