Busy Bee Finance plc on Wednesday announced the appointment of Geoffrey Friggieri to the position of Chief Executive Officer of Busy Bee Group.

He takes over from Stefan Borg, who resigned from the post and carried out his last working day on Sunday 21st May.

Mr Friggieri has been involved with Busy Bee Group from a young age, and is one of the Managing Directors of the Group who oversees operations on a day-to-day basis. His new role at the helm of the much-loved local brand commenced on Monday 22nd May.

Busy Bee is a household name in Malta, known for its delicacies and vibrant heritage. It was launched in 1933 and has largely remained a family affair. Stefan Borg’s tenure as CEO represented the company’s foray into non-family leadership, while Geoffrey’s appointment represents a return. Indeed, he is the grandson of Busy Bee Founder Censu Friggieri, and is the son of Edwin Friggieri, who had taken over from his father in 1974.

Geoffrey’s brother, Brian, also has a long history with the family business, and today occupies the post of Director.

Starting out as a small coffee shop in Msida, Busy Bee’s 90-year history has seen several developments within the firm which have cemented its growth and status in the local delicacy and catering market.
