CEO Michael Mifsud has described the Cannes Yachting Festival as an “exceptional platform” to showcase Yachting Malta to an international audience.

This comes as Yachting Malta is set to take part in the renowned festival, which will be held between 12th and 17th September in Cannes, France, with an eclectic exhibition being held every year. This year, it is set to welcome 50,000 visitors, 610 exhibitors, over 500 journalists, and some of the biggest actors in the boating industry.

Yachting Malta’s stand, which will be located on stand 28 at the Palais des Festivals, will also welcome the Malta Tourism Authority, the Malta Ship Registry, and the Super Yacht Industry Network, who accepted Yachting Malta’s invitation to be present. Yachting Malta stated that the presence of these entities “reinforces its efforts to provide a holistic service to current and future stakeholders having an interest in yachting in Malta”.

Commenting on the news of the organisations’ participation, Mr Mifsud, who has led Yachting Malta since 2019, said: “We are thrilled to be taking part in the Cannes Yachting Festival.”

“This event will provide us with an exceptional platform to introduce Yachting Malta’s philosophy and values to an international audience,” he added.

“Our debut here signifies our commitment to developing the potential Malta has as a yachting destination and underscores our dedication to offering unparalleled services to existing and future stakeholders,” he continued.

Through its presence at the festival, Yachting Malta seeks to “continue to reinforce Malta’s reputation as an all-year round destination for yachting events”. It also aims to showcase its ship registry, which is deemed one of the highly respected registries in the world, and which it continues to maintain as the sixth largest ship register in the world, and holds top spot as the largest tonnage register in Europe.

Added to this, Malta also possesses an “ever-growing Super Yacht Registry” which has experienced a 51 per cent increase in registrations for superyachts exceeding 24 metres in length.

Launched in 2015, Yachting Malta is a public-private partnership between Government of Malta and Royal Malta Yacht Club. The organisation’s primary role is to identify and attract high-profile yachting events to Malta including sailing regattas, power racing, boat shows, yachting awards and conferences.
