Malta Business Registry (MBR) CEO and Registrar Geraldine Spiteri Lucas is celebrating her 10th anniversary working at the registry, it announced on Thursday (today).

Dr Spiteri Lucas first joined the registry in 2014 when she was appointed Legal Officer when the registry was still part of the Malta Financial Services Authority as the Registry of Companies. Once the formal de-merger from the MFSA was formally completed in 2019, she was appointed Chief Legal Officer.

In October 2021, she was appointed Registrar and CEO at the registry, and has played a pivotal role in bringing a number of key changes within the entity ever since, helping it become more in line with European and international criteria.

As CEO, she is responsible for the overall management and performance of the registry, as well as the strategy development and implementation of the business register.

“10 remarkable years of hard work, leadership, and dedication,” the MBR stated.

It proceeded to thank Dr Spiteri Lucas for her “inspiration and guidance” over the years, congratulating her on the milestone.

She graduated with a Doctor of Laws from University of Malta in 2010 and a few months later obtained her warrant to practice in Maltese courts. Afterwards, she read for a Masters in European and Comparative Law, graduating in 2012.

The MBR is responsible for the registration of new commercial partnerships and legal entities, the issuing of certified documentation including certificates of good-standing, the reservation of company names, and the collection of registration and other fees, among other responsibilities.
