Claude Mallia, CEO of Malta Air Traffic Services (MATS), revealed that the company will be hosting DRONAMICS’ European operations base on its premises in Luqa.

DRONAMICS, a London-based aviation company, is led by its mission to ‘democratize airfreight and lower the cost of shipping anywhere’.

It is also considered to be the world’s first cargo drone aircraft developer.

“DRONAMICS will be joining other aviation-related tenants, and MATS will take this opportunity to launch a refurbishment project that will breathe life back into Malta’s first (x-RAF) air navigation control centre in Luqa,” Mr Mallia said.

“I thank my passionate team at MATS and Hon. Aaron Farrugia, Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Capital Projects, for his unwavering support of our bold ventures,” he continued.

Founded in 2002, MATS is a registered limited liability company providing air navigation service provision to the Maltese flight information region.

Mr Mallia joined the company last January as Designate CEO, only to be formally appointed as CEO the following month.

Before joining MATS, Mr Mallia spent eight-and-a-half years at the Planning Authority, where he served as Chairman of the Planning Appeals Board, Planning Commissioner, and Chairman of the Planning Commission.
