On Monday, Fenech and Fenech Advocates announced the appointment of its new Partner at the firm, Thomas Bugeja. His new role became effective on 1st January.

Dr Bugeja joined as a Trainee Associate in 2014 and was called to the bar in 2015, after having obtained his Bachelor of Laws and Doctor of Laws degrees from the University of Malta. He also holds a Master of Laws (LL.M) in EU Competition law from King’s College London.

He gained experience in the Employment and Technology, Media and Telecommunications departments, handling employment disputes, commercial advisory, telecommunications, and data protection matters among others until he moved to the Corporate and Commercial department in 2019.

In this role he aided commercial clients in a range of commercial and contentious matters, specialising in international commercial litigation, recognition and enforcement of foreign judgements, and competition law.

Now, Dr Bugeja advises various commercial clients in the retail, gaming, telecommunications, and transportation sectors in day-to-day general commercial and regulatory matters.

Additionally, he has also represented clients before the Maltese Courts and Tribunals, in EU and competition law matters, and before the Maltese Office for Competition in merger control and antitrust proceedings, investigations and litigations.
