The Chambers High Net Worth 2021 rankings, which recognise global law firms’ pre-eminence in key jurisdictions, have been released, and local firm Fenech & Fenech Advocates have announced that the firm, as well as Partner Rosanne Bonnici, Senior Associate Rebecca Diacono and Partner Alison Vassallo have been recognised.

Dr Bonnici ranked in Band 1 in Private Wealth Law, Malta, whilst Dr Diacono was ranked Associate to Watch. Meanwhile, Dr Vassallo ranked in Band 3 in Yachts & Superyachts, global-wide. She is the only Maltese professional to rank in Yachts & Superyachts globally for the fifth consecutive year.

The guide described Fenech & Fenech Advocates as “excellent on all counts,” with an interviewee citing “their service, advice and efficiency; they really are one of the best legal firms I have ever worked with.” An international lawyer commented that the firm “are plugged into the key players in Malta, so they have great on-the-ground knowledge and insight.”

Of the practitioners recognised, the guide affirms that Dr Bonnici “has incisive insights on tax, with a deep appreciation of the broader international implications,” according to a source. She assists clients with domestic and international tax matters.

Meanwhile, Dr Diacono is described as an “extremely responsive and thorough” tax and immigration practitioner. “Rebecca is always quick to follow up on matters big and small,” says one interviewee, adding that she “provides extremely clear written advice, cutting away all unnecessary complexity.”

One her part, Dr Vassallo is praised by a source for her expertise in “yacht importations and customs work,” which she “handles in a prompt and professional manner.” “Alison is clearly very knowledgeable in her field and very efficient at providing pragmatic advice,” comments another interviewee, adding that she “takes the time to write detailed guidance.” A US lawyer considers Vassallo “our go-to in Malta – my first choice – very professional, knowledgeable and up-to-date on Maltese issues.”

Sharing the news on social media, Dr Bonnici wrote that she is “honoured to be ranked in Band 1 with our firm, joined by our Senior Associate Rebecca Diacono, for our Team’s work in the Private Wealth field. It is a pleasure to be of service to our practice’s private clients.”

Dr Vassallo also posted about the recognition on social media, affirming that “client and peer appreciation is the highest form of reward. Very grateful and honoured by this ranking. A heartfelt thank you to those who took the time to contribute to it.”
