Geoffrey Farrugia

Geoffrey Farrugia on Tuesday announced to his network that he has resigned from the position of CEO at HandsOn Systems, one he has held for 12 years and six months.

HandsOn Systems is a Malta-based international technology company specialising in GPS tracking, fleet management and other IoT systems.

Mr Farrugia first took on the position of CEO in August 2010, after close to three years as Technical Director of Cyberpass.

Citing health reasons, in announcing his resignation, Mr Farrugia wrote:

“It was the hardest decision of my life but for once my health came before anyone or anything else! Nothing is forever and no one is indispensable.

“I will not be seeking the same career or the same sector, at least for now. On the contrary, I will be looking at unlocking new artistic hobbies and ventures.”

Regularly featured on MaltaCEOs.mt, Mr Farrugia is a vocal professional, often sharing insights about the issues facing Malta’s service-based sector.

Last November, reflecting on 2022, he shared with this platform that many trends brought by COVID-19, such as remote work and online client meetings, led to challenges such as management issues and communication gaps.

While some may have labelled him as ‘old-school’, Mr Farrugia shared his belief that flitting from one online meeting to another, while certainly more comfortable and efficient, can lead to apathy and indifference.

He had also cited the many challenges in finding the right talent, an issue more so felt by the local IT and software sector considering the number of skilled workers in the field who opt for a role in the iGaming sector.

Currently taking a health and wellbeing career break, MaltaCEOs.mt wishes Mr Farrugia the best of luck in his future endeavours!
