Zach Ciappara, Founder and CEO at FreeHour, is marking a milestone for the company, as the mobile application platform for students reached 35,000 followers on Instagram.

“Over the last few years, FreeHour has grown from an innovative mobile app serving students from University of Malta, MCAST and all 6th Forms in Malta, to a wide-ranging creative platform followed by a community of over 35,000 students and youths,” he writes on social media, marking the occasion.

Founded in 2017, FreeHour allows students to share their timetable with friends, with a primary purpose of finding mutual free lessons. It also boasts additional features including special offers for students, jobs vacancies, student events and systems for keeping track of exams and assignments.

“Through creative and innovative content creation specifically curated to appeal to the younger demographic, with a big focus on Instagram – FreeHour has become one of the island’s most engaged platforms, and the centre of students daily content and news,” continued the young CEO, who was nominated for EY’s Entrepreneur Of The Year Award earlier this year.

Upon his nomination, Mr Ciappara had commented that, “founded when I was a Uni student few years ago, FreeHour has grown from a small two-man team, to a fully-fledged team of 12 talented and hard-working youths.”

In late 2019, FreeHour also launched internationally, and now boasts an additional 20,000 users in Italy and nearby regions.
