Bank of Valletta plc (BOV) on Monday announced that it has appointed Hadrian Sammut as Non-Executive Director, having been co-opted to the role.

The bank confirmed that regulatory approval for his appointment has already been granted.

Mr Sammut has extensive experience in strategic implementation and holistic management of information systems, having been heavily involved in several large-scale projects in the public and private sectors over the past 35 years.

Aside from his new role, he has also served as Chief Officer Advisory at iMovo Limited for the past 13 years. He has been responsible for various engagements related to IT governance, performance, and compliance across various regulated business sectors, both locally and abroad.

Mr Sammut is also a Visiting Lecturer at University of Malta’s Faculty of Media and Knowledge Sciences, covering areas such as information systems and services in modern libraries, as well as management of virtual libraries.

He has extensive experience in the field of IT, having started his career at Central Bank of Malta, implementing its preliminary banking and financial information system.

He then joined the Malta Stock Exchange, developing its initial back-office trading application and forming Malta’s first Central Securities Depository.

Mr Sammut subsequently assumed responsibility for the strategic planning and program management endeavours related to the implementation of Government’s initial Departmental Accounting System.

His career also includes 11 years as Associate Director at KPMG Malta, as well as a previous stint at BOV as External Advisor in an IT Oversight Committee.

Mr Sammut holds a Master of Business Administration in eBusiness and a Diploma in Library and Information Studies, both from University of Malta. He also has a Bachelor of Science in Management of Information Systems from University of Greenwich in the UK.
