Hilary Galea-Lauri on Thursday (today) announced that he has been appointed Member of the Board of Trustees at The Parents Foundation for Education.

With origins dating back to 1988, the foundation came to fruition after a group of parents got together to express their concerns about the educational future of their young children because at the time, private schooling did not offer enough choice to parents. The foundation seeks to raise funds to establish private schools to provide broad-based multilingual education, high academic standards in line with national curricula, and in a physical environment that is conducive of the aforementioned qualities to children of all ages.

The foundation carries out its functions by means of resolutions of the Trustees after consultation with the two schools tied to it, San Anton School and San Andrea School.

Mr Galea-Lauri has years of experience working on assurance, audit quality and readiness, among other areas. He worked at KPMG Malta for close to 38 years, leading the firm’s audit team and becoming a member of its Executive Management Committee.

He was also recently appointed Independent Non-Executive Director and Audit Committee Chair at dLocal, a major global payment gateway platform focused on the African, Asian, and Latin American regions.

Mr Galea-Lauri served on the Council of the Malta Institute of Accountants (MIA) for 18 years and chaired its Accounting Committee. He also lectured on Advanced Financial Reporting and was the lead examiner in financial reporting for 10 years.
