The phrase ‘the grass is always greener on the other side’ may ring true to many, but not to Finesse Group Founder-CEO Jo Caruana.
Jo’s recent relocation to the United Kingdom may have deprived her of some of her favourite summer activities, but as it turns out, nothing will make this self-professed ‘spring lover’ miss Malta’s sweltering heat.
For the second entry of this year’s MaltaCEOs.mt summer interview series, we caught up with Jo to find out what she plans on getting up to throughout the next couple of months.
Definitely winter. I hate almost everything about summer – from the heat to the crowds and hot-headedness. Crisp spring or autumn days are my favourite, but I would take rain and gloom over 39-degree heat any day!
Sailing. Nothing better than escaping the heat by getting out on the water. It’s also lovely to see Malta from a totally different perspective. The Grand Harbour, especially, is exceptional.
The Edinburgh Fringe has always been my go-to summer holiday because it’s the perfect mix of theatre, gorgeous scenery, and cooler weather. I always head north in the summer to avoid the heat, so the further north the better and Scotland delivers on that front! I have never been a pool and lounge chair kind of holiday-goer; sitting by a pool drives me nuts. Scotland is familiar enough to feel like home and has lots going on to ensure a fun schedule, with great food to boot.
I am now based in the UK for most of the year, living on a canal boat. So, I will be enjoying exploring England over the summer months, with a few trips to Scotland planned too.
Probably New York. It was springtime, so ideal weather for exploring, theatre trips, and food stops. Absolutely loved it! We stayed in the Meatpacking District and it was the perfect base.
India. The animal cruelty and poverty were unbearable. I wanted to love it but just didn’t.
