HSBC has announced that Ingrid Azzopardi has resigned from her post as Non-Executive Director, and Chair of the Audit Committee and Risk Committee of the bank.
The bank noted that her resignation took effect on 1st October to take on a new position and that it will announce her replacement “at the appropriate time.”
The Board expressed gratitude towards Ms Azzopardi “for her valuable insight and positive contribution to the bank and its insurance subsidiary, HSBC Life Assurance (Malta) for over seven years.”
Ms Azzopardi is a Certified Public Accountant and Auditor and has a Master in Accountancy from University of Malta. From the Institute of Directors, she was awarded a certificate in Company Direction and Chartered Director. In addition, she graduated in Business Sustainability Management from the University of Cambridge.
She is a founding member and past chair of the Malta Forum for Internal Auditors (IIA Malta Chapter) and a fellow of the Malta Institute of Accountants (MIA) as well as of the UK Institute of Directors.
With over 30 years of experience in the internal audit function, Ms Azzopardi is an expert in fraud prevention, detection and investigation as well as risk management. After hold the role of Group Internal Audit for GO plc for the past 33 years, she is now the Head Internal Audit at Tumas Group.
In the past, she has held board positions at the Housing Authority, the Manoel Theatre, the Mediterranean Conference Centre.
