Manufacturing company, TOLY, a world supplier of packaging solutions for the beauty industry, has expanded its corporate office based in Malta to include an integrated innovation centre.
TOLY Chairman and CEO, Andy Gatesy, said the company’s move was motivated by the restrictions brought about by COVID-19, pushing it to create a solution to counteract a problem. The innovation centre, he explains, is “unique to Malta and the beauty industry.”
“TOLY this year has been celebrating 50 years of manufacturing in Malta. Several years ago, the Government asked us to move up the value chain and we did exactly that. We moved all our corporate functions here to Malta and built this beautiful building to house all of those.”
Taking this a step further, Mr Gatesy said that, throughout the past year, as they’ve been unable to receive customers at their offices and also unable to travel, they worked to explore a way to present innovation to their client base, which the CEO describes as “the currency of the future.”
“We’ve added an extra room [at our facilities] and created the TOLY studios, where together with live models we’re creating fantastic video productions, to be able to be different and demonstrate our innovation live using the virtual world.”
Aside from its manufacturing capabilities, TOLY also works with make-up artists, beauty bloggers, trend watchers, and employs graphic and concept designers who create branding and packaging for their customers.
TOLY also has innovation engineers dedicated to disrupting the way people apply and use beauty products, “all supported by our technical and operation capabilities,” said Mr Gatesy.
“So for us, it’s really exciting and I encourage all companies that If you want to get yourself out of the COVID-19 pandemic, focus on the future, focus on creativity, focus on innovation, because that’s what will make the difference for the winners and the losers.”
