Stephanie Mifsud, Senior Legal and Compliance Manager at Melita Limited, has stated that International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) certifications have to constantly be monitored and requires a commitment from each member of an organisation.

ISO certifications aim to establish credibility and trust among consumers, clients, and other business partners, validating that an organisation adheres to global standards of quality assurance, manufacturing and business.

Melita recently undertook a successful ISO certification audit, with it remaining the only telecommunications operator in Malta told three ISO certifications. These are in the areas of information security, environmental management, and occupational health and safety.

Dr Mifsud stated that ISO certifications are “not just a one-off thing.”

“They require ongoing monitoring and commitment from everyone across the organisation,” she affirmed.

She remarked that the team at Melita is pleased to have passed the latest audits, with no non-conformities being found.

“Of course, there is always more to do, but we are wholly committed to maintaining all our ISO certifications, which act as a quality guarantee for the way our business operates,” Dr Mifsud continued.

The latest audit saw Melita teams from across the organisation engage with the external auditor who identified various improvements undertaken since the previous assessment which go beyond the prerequisites of the ISO standards.

These included the implementation of an innovative process for reporting health and safety near misses and hazards, thus ensuring an easier and convenient reporting process to make sure potential issues are promptly addressed and mitigated.

Additionally, the company also refurbished its air conditioning systems and increased adoption of electric vehicles, reducing carbon emissions.
