Izabela Banas to replace Radoslaw Ksiezopolski as MeDirect Bank Group CFO and Executive Director

Izabela Banas has been appointed Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Executive Director at MeDirect Bank (Malta) plc and MDB Group, the bank announced on Monday.

The appointment, which is subject to and will become effective upon receipt of regulatory approval, will see her replace Radoslaw Ksiezopolski in the positions.

Mr Ksiezopolski, who had joined the bank in August 2019, has taken the decision to leave as he will be accepting another professional opportunity outside of Malta with effect from 15th July 2024.

“The bank thanks Mr Ksiezopolski for his valuable contribution to the bank and its parent holding company, MDB Group Limited,” MeDirect Bank stated.

Ms Banas is a seasoned financial industry professional, having amassed over 24 years of expertise in the area, including financial leadership roles at a number of renowned international firms in the financial services industry in the United Kingdom and Switzerland.

She had started her career at General Electric Company as part of the Financial Management Programme, before serving in a number of other roles in the company, including Senior Financial Planning Analyst – Global. After seven years at the company, she left for senior roles at Elster Group, Credit Suisse, and Willis.

Following those experiences, she then spent five years at HSBC, initially as Head of Finance – Group Cost Performance and Global Functions, and then as CFO of Private Bank EMEA.

Afterwards, she left the bank to join Bank of Valletta (BOV) as Group CFO, a position she held for three years, up until her departure was announced last February. There, she also served as Chair of the Asset and Liability Management Committee and was also a Member of the bank’s Executive Committee. During her tenure at BOV, she was also Director and Audit Committee Member at MAPFRE MSV Life plc.

Ms Banas holds a degree in Economics with a specialisation in Finance from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and is a certified Lean Sigma Black Belt.

MeDirect Bank is a pan-European digital bank that is headquartered in Sliema. In recent years, it expanded operations to also have a subsidiary bank in Belgium, and also launched its web and mobile platform in the Netherlands.
