Risk and insurance practitioner James Portelli has been named Executive Director at Eucare Insurance PCC Limited, he announced on Sunday.

Eucare is a Malta-based insurance company that is active in France and the Netherlands. It works together with partners who are close to the customer, combining Eucare’s experience with partners’ knowledge to provide clients “with the best possible service”.

Mr Portelli, who has served the firm in a Non-Executive Director position since its inception, shared that his new position comes “at a juncture when the company is set to embark on its next phase of development”.

Apart from his new position Mr Portelli has also been President of the Malta Insurance Institute since 2020. He is also Founder of Portelli & Associates, a company that offers consulting and training services overseas, primarily in Europe and the Middle East. Additionally, Mr Portelli is also a Consultant at Cutts-Watson Consulting Limited.

He also previously worked as Managing Director at Hillwood Limited, was Head of Life and Pensions at Citadel Insurance plc, and was also CEO at Malta International Training Centre, among other positions at various other firms.

Aside from the insurance industry, Mr Portelli is passionate about writing, travelling and trekking. He is President and a Founding Member of XirCammini, a not-for-profit voluntary group that researches, promotes and participates in a number of hiking and trekking routes across Europe, the Middle East, and beyond, while also developing similar routes in Malta.
