Jean Paul Debono on Monday shared that he has been appointed Non-Executive Director at credit card company Insignia Cards Limited.

Additionally, he has also been named Chairman of the company’s Audit Committee and Risk Committee Member.

Aside from his new roles at Insignia Cards Limited, Mr Debono is also Founder and Managing Partner at accountancy firm Debono & Associates, and is also Non-Executive Director and Audit Committee Member at Stivala Group Malta.

He is also Chairman of The Malta Institute of Accountants’ (MIA) Small and Medium Practices (SMP) Advisory Group, as well as Malta Partner Audit, Accounts & Taxation at UK-headquartered Centuro Global.

He is a Certified Public Accountant and Practicing Auditor, and is highly specialised in accounts, taxation, and financial reporting, while also possessing extensive experience in servicing local and international clients across a wide range of industry sectors. He describes himself as having an “all-round grasp and knowledge” of commercial affairs in Malta, and is “routinely involved in effective decision-making, advising on corporate structure, corporate finance, and on the preparation of business plans”.

He holds a master’s degree from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and a degree in Taxation and Tax Law from Malta Institute of Taxation, and is a Member of both organisations.

Established in 2013, Insignia Cards Limited is a Malta-based card and luxury services company. It is a principal member of VISA and has since launched various credit card products on the market. The company was allowed to resume operations as normal earlier this month after the Malta Financial Services Authority lifted all administrative penalties which were originally imposed on the company in 2021, namely ceasing the prefunding of charge cards and a €142,000 fine, among others.
