Joe Zammit-Lucia

Published earlier on this year, Joe Zammit-Lucia’s latest book “The New Political Capitalism” was selected among the Financial Times Business Books February 2022 and Money Week book of the week, and focuses on how to succeed “in a deeply politicised world.”

BNF Bank announced that it sponsored the book launch in its “efforts to support literacy initiatives.”

The book “focuses on business leadership in contemporary culture and argues the impact of politics on the environment in which businesses operate.”

The New Political Capitalism” bridges the gap between the reality of the relationship between politics and business, and the lack of familiarity of the business community, even at the most senior levels, with political thinking. The book demonstrates how businesses that develop effective political antennae can enhance their performance in the emerging age of Political Capitalism.”

We live in a world where business and politics co-exist, where more and more people have opinions on how societies should be run and the role that businesses must play in such situations. “Markets themselves are politically constructed. Investors increasingly focus on corporations’ political positions – be they environmental or societal.”

Therefore, even if some might still believe in the notion that business is “apolitical”, this book seeks to challenge that . Indeed, it “meshes socio-political trends with business purpose, strategy and operations. From why businesses exist at all, to the importance of diversity, to what they stand for culturally and politically.”

Throughout his extensive career, Dr Zammit-Lucia has had experience in both the business and political worlds. He is a founder of RADIX, a not-for-profit public policy think tank in the UK, and the RADIX Centre for Business, Politics and Society, in Amsterdam.

Following an executive career in business spanning R&D, marketing, global brand management, strategic planning, industrial economics and public policy he founded his own advisory firm with offices in Cambridge (UK), New York and Tokyo.

He is currently on the Advisory Board of the Singapore Forum for long-term investors and business leaders. Dr Zammit-Lucia is a regular commentator on business and politics.
