Joenick Farrugia, former General Manager at local tech retail company Klikk, has been appointed Chief Coordinator at the Ministry for Economy, EU Funds and Lands.

Mr Farrugia revealed his new role on social media just last Friday.

Headed by Minister Silvio Schembri and Parliamentary Secretary Chris Bonett, this Ministry is behind several local industries and sectors, including but not limited to Artificial Intelligence, the Freeport, Small Businesses, and Communications.

Mr Farrugia had hinted at this new phase of his career last April, when he bid the Klikk family farewell in a heartfelt social media post.

“Today is my last day as General Manager at Klikk Limited. I will now be taking a month-long break to focus on other important things in life before exploring what the future holds. Inevitably, one recounts his experience and I end up saying to myself – ‘what a journey’,” he wrote.

The newly appointed Chief Coordinator had joined Klikk as a Technical Manager in 2007. After seven years in said role, he took on the position of Sales Manager.

Mr Farrugia temporarily parted ways with Klikk between 2015 and 2017, when he served as Assistant Manager at Alberta, although he returned to the tech retail company as Sales and Inventory Manager in September 2017.

Five months after that, he was appointed General Manager of the company – a position which he held for upwards of four years.
