Josef Camilleri is celebrating his 25th anniversary at HSBC as he dedicates this important milestone to his mother who passed away 16 months ago.

“Today marks another work (and life) milestone,” Mr Camilleri states, adding that “on 16th November 25 years ago [he] walked into an HSBC (back then Mid-Med Bank) branch for the first time.” At this point the Head of Products and Distribution points out that he had technically been in the bank before in his mother’s womb when she was pregnant with him as she too used to work at the same bank as her son.

He recalls that banking was not new to him as both his parents had been bankers and admitted that “for a young 17-year-old shy teenager, just out of [his] studies and pushed by mum to apply for the job, this wasn’t one of easiest days.”

Speaking of his journey over the past 25 years, Mr Camilleri listed the roles he’s held over time. “From a junior clerk/cashier to a senior clerk, from a supervisory role to a managerial role and from managing people into a leadership position, the journey until now has been intense, interesting, and exciting,” he affirms.

Pondering on his life choices, the business leader acknowledges that “[he] couldn’t be happier about all the choices [he] made.”

Grateful for the opportunities he’s had over the years, Mr Camilleri states that “[he has] been learning since then, and will always crave knowledge.”

“Dedicated to my beloved mum on the 16th month anniversary of her passing – I hope I’ve made you proud so far,” the Head of Products and Distribution concludes.
