KM Malta Airlines on Wednesday (today) announced that it has appointed Joseph Azzopardi as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
Mr Azzopardi joins the national carrier with extensive experience and a proven track record in financial leadership within the aviation industry.
Prior to his latest role, he served as Head of Finance and Group Simulator Operations Accountable Manager at Ryanair Group. He was instrumental in setting up Ryanair’s Malta operations, including managing air operator certificates (AOCs), aircraft, and simulator acquisition and leasing, insurance, hangar operations, and overseeing safety and compliance across the group’s four simulator training bases in Europe.
Mr Azzopardi’s experience also includes over two years as Management Accountant within the Fleet Planning and Management department at Lufthansa and more than two years as Management Accountant in the Financial Control Team at Air Malta.
In his new role at KM Malta Airlines, Mr Azzopardi will oversee all financial operations, including financial planning and analysis, financial and sustainability reporting, and treasury functions.
He holds a Bachelor of Accountancy (Hons) and is a Certified Accountant by profession.
KM Malta Airlines was launched on 31st March 2024, a day after previous flag carrier Air Malta was closed. It presently serves 17 airports across 15 key European cities.
