The Ona has appointed Justin Cutajar as Executive Director and legal and judicial representative to fill a casual vacancy that arose when former Director George Muscat passed away in September.

In a market update on the Malta Stock Exchange, the company stated that its Board of Directors unanimously voted to co-opt Mr Cutajar during a meeting held on Monday.

His appointment is, for now, temporary, being in effect until the next annual general meeting of the company.

An accountant by profession, Mr Cutajar previously served at The Ona’s Company Secretary and Finance Director.

He holds various directorships in private companies of which he is also a shareholder, some being involved in the business of property development. Between 2019 and 2020, he served as Chief Financial Officer of GAP Group, of which the late Mr Muscat was Co-Founder and a major shareholder.

The Ona is a group of business ventures based in Malta, that represents a number of leading business concerns in the hospitality, development and the marketing and distribution of a vast array of renowned brands.

Most prominently, it is the owner of the AC Hotel by Marriott St Julian’s, which was inaugurated earlier in 2023.

The Ona was founded by Cliona Muscat, daughter of Mr Muscat and a seasoned entrepreneur in her own right, with a wealth of experience in the management of a number of international brands such as Women’s Secret, Springfield, Pedro de Hierro and Cortefiel.
