Long-serving Forensic Psychologist Kevin Sammut Henwood has been appointed Chairperson of the Malta Pscyhology Profession Board.
Said board, an officially appointed body within the Ministry for Social Policy and Children’s Rights, is bound by law to observe the criteria set forth in the Malta Psychology Act when determining whether a prospective candidate is eligible for a warrant to practice psychology and obtain the title of Registered Psychologist.
Chairperson aside, the Malta Psychology Profession Board is made up of six members – Josette Barbara Cardona, Anita Giordimaina, Mary Anne Lauri, Mariella Mamo, Martin Micallef, and Jo Christine Scicluna – and Secretary Deborah Cassar.
Dr Sammut Henwood was appointed Chairperson of the Board last June, although he only revealed the appointment on social media earlier this week.
His academic qualifications include a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) from the University of Malta, a Master of Science in Forensic Psychology from the University of Surrey, and a Forensic Psychology Doctorate from the University of Nottingham.
Dr Sammut Henwood also serves as a Principal (Forensic) Psychologist at Malta’s Correctional Services Agency and Department of Probation and Parole, as a Treatment and Training Coordinator at RISe, and as a member of the national Parole Board, amongst other things.
