Insurance company Laferla has announced a number of appointments and promotions as part of its growth strategy of introducing a junior and middle-management structure.

The management role shake-up forms part of its evolving business as it also introduced new areas like regulatory compliance, corporate governance, marketing, IT, and business development, within the company.

“These investments have allowed us to evolve into a more structured and corporate setup,” Laferla said.

Effective from 1st September, the company appointed Heidi Bugeja as Manager for the Health Underwriting Department, Claire Culic as Manager for the Personal Lines Claims Department and David Attard as Manager for the Commercial Lines Department.

In addition, Lara May Cardona now holds the role of Commercial Lines Executive and Kristian Abela is now the Marine Insurance and Commercial Claims Executive.

Furthermore, Wendy Caruana and Laurence Orsini took on the role of Team Leader within the Personal Lines function taking responsibility of the ‘Distribution Network’ and ‘Direct Business’ areas respectively.

Commenting on the restructuring of this function, Laferla noted that this decision will allow for a more focused approach. While Ms Caruana will be leading the Distribution Network team, the rest of the Personal Lines team will concentrate on the Direct Business with Mr Orsini.

Laferla remarked that the new hierarchy is a natural next step in its evolution and that the team members have taken on new roles with added responsibilities and decision-making authority.

The insurance company was established over 35 years ago and is a family-run business that offers a range of cost-effective insurance products.
