Andaria Financial Services Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Kurt Azzopardi on Tuesday affirmed that working in a start-up has made him appreciate the ongoing process and adapting of goals that comes with the journey.

He explained that enjoying the journey has been the “most significant” lesson he’s learned during that time.

“Whatever your current idea of utopia is, guaranteed it won’t work out exactly as planned,” he said.

Mr Azzopardi remarked that it is “crucial” to have a clear target and work towards it, but “life will throw curveballs and the definition of perfection evolves”. This completely turns life at work into an “ongoing process and a constant revision of goals”.

Mr Azzopardi has worked at Andaria Financial Services for the past two years. He joined the company in 2021, the same year that it obtained its licences from both Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA) and the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).

It is vital for business leaders to learn, adapt, and focus on doing and implementing their ideas, as patience and time are ultimately one’s “allies”.

“Overnight success does not exist because it’s not about the destination. The journey itself is the real prize. It’s your own unique adventure, one that you shape, and it’s a beautiful one,” Mr Azzopardi concluded.

Throughout his career, Mr Azzopardi has gained various years of IT and software development experience from a number of firms. He holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in ICT from University of Malta and is a Microsoft Certified Professional Developer.
