HSBC Bank Malta plc announced that Sue Vella has relinquished her post of non-executive Director of the Bank with effect from 1st December and has been replaced by Maria Micallef.
The Board of Directors expressed its gratitude towards Dr Vella for her sterling service to the Bank and confirmed that regulatory approval for the appointment of Ms Micallef has been obtained.
Until her retirement in December 2020, Ms Micallef served as Managing Partner at RSM Malta. In this capacity, she specialised in business advisory services including mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, valuations and investment appraisals.
She is a visiting lecturer at the University of Malta, where she is currently also pursuing a Degree in Humanities.
Ms Micallef has a BA (Hons) Accountancy degree and is a Certified
Public Accountant. She is a fellow of the Malta Institute of Accountants, a member of the US Institute of Internal Auditors, and a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. She also served as President of the Malta Institute of Accountants between 2013 and 2015.
The new non-executive Director currently also serves the same role at PG plc.
HSBC Bank Malta also announces the appointment of Ms Micallef as the Chairperson of the Bank’s Remuneration and Nomination Committee, and Member of the Bank’s Audit Committee. As a result, the committee is now composed of Ms Micallef as Chairperson, while John Bonello and Henri Mizzi serve as Committee Members.
The Bank’s Audit Committee is now composed of Ingrid Azzopardi as Chairperson, while Ms Micallef and Dr Mizzi hold the role of Committee Members.
