Marisa Xuereb

Former President of The Malta Chamber of Commerce Marisa Xuereb has replaced Juanito Camilleri as Non-Executive Chair of the Board of Directors at Epic Communications Limited, with effect from 3rd April 2023.

Prof. Camilleri departs after two and a half years in the role, having opted to step down in order to pursue other interests and commitments.

Epic says that he has enabled it to become the “fastest growing telecom brand in the country”, thanks to his experience and vision in the field, as well as his great focus on providing the best customer experience.

Ms Xuereb’s two-year tenure at the helm of The Malta Chamber recently came to a close after she confirmed that she would not be running for a second term. Prior to that she sat on the institution’s Council for six years, serving first as Vice President and then as Deputy President.

Having held various directorship roles at Malta Enterprise, MCAST, MCST, and The Malta Chamber’s public-private partnership, Education Malta, she is also the long-standing Managing Director at Raesch Quarz (Malta) Ltd, with over 25 years of experience in the FDI manufacturing industry. Her experience is complemented by a strong academic background, as she holds a master’s degree in economics, and is a well-established face on local policy fora.

Prof. Camilleri thanked the shareholders for entrusting him with the role over the years: “It was indeed a privilege to have been part of the team which saw the birth and steady growth of Epic.”

“I have no doubt that under the strong leadership of Epic CEO Pierre-Etienne Cizeron, and the guidance and commercial acumen of Ms Xuereb, Epic will go from strength to strength,” he added.

Mr Cizeron commented on Ms Xuereb’s appointment and the departure of her predecessor, saying: “On behalf of the shareholders and the entire team at Epic, we warmly thank Prof. Camilleri, a pioneer in the telecoms industry, who was highly instrumental during the acquisition of Epic, and the development of the brand to become the fastest growing telecom player in Malta.”

“We welcome Ms Xuereb, and are excited to have her on board, bringing a new perspective moulded by her business experience and academic background, as Epic continues its journey to connect Malta to the future,” he concluded.

Epic is one of the largest telecommunication providers in Malta and Cyprus. It provides integrated mobile and fixed telephony, internet, television service, and specialised ICT business solutions, as well as services for the maritime industry.
