Malta Further and Higher Education Authority (MFHEA) CEO Rose Anne Cuschieri has been named Honorary Member of the European Council for Leading Business Schools (ECLBS), the MFHEA announced on Thursday.

The ECLBS was founded in 2013 and is a registered non-governmental and non-profit educational association. Its goal is to ensure that institutions of higher education across Europe and the rest of the world “meet the highest internationally recommended level of quality”. ECLBS’s team is a “diverse and closely-knit multicultural group” which has a wealth of expertise and perspectives, contributing to a dynamic and collaborative work environment. Its team fosters an “atmosphere of mutual respect and open communication” that allows for efficient decision-making and rapid responses to challenges and opportunities.

In her new role, Dr Cuschieri will represent the MFHEA, after the two organisations mutually recognised the services of each other for academic, cultural exchange and bilateral recognition.

MFHEA noted that the agreement signed between the two organisations “serves to recognise and promote the quality standards” of both, and to also “facilitate the exchange of information and resources”. The agreement also helps “facilitate the recognition of academic credentials and qualifications between countries and promote international collaboration in the field of business education”.

The authority added that the collaboration allows them to strengthen ECLBS’s international reputation and the institutions it lists, thus providing “greater access to global markets and opportunities for students and academic professionals alike”.

ECLBS also has Bilateral Recognition agreements with the United States, Kosovo, Kazakhstan, and India, among other countries. Through such agreements, ECLBS can expand its reach and influence beyond Europe and “promote its quality standards and values on a global scale”.

Dr Cuschieri has served as CEO at MFHEA for the past two and a half years, having established herself as an experienced Director with a demonstrated history of working in the education management industry. She holds a Doctorate in Education, Educational Leadership and Management from The University of Sheffield, among other qualifications.
