JOSEPH FARRUGIA

Local destination management company MI Malta took to social media to announce the passing of its Director for Italy, Austria, and Scandinavia, Joseph Farrugia.

Mr Farrugia, a veteran at MI Malta, was described as a “dearest friend” and “most wonderful colleague” who “was always happy to help and reach out and loved and lived life to the max.”

“Joseph (Joe as we all affectionately called him) passed away yesterday evening,” the company wrote.

“Joe was not just any ordinary colleague or friend. He was a true gentleman and always had a positive word of advice to share even in the worst of times,” it continued.

The late Director had kickstarted his career in the events sphere back in 1995, joining MI Malta nine years later.

“Life without him at MI is never going to be the same and he leaves such emptiness that time will not heal,” the company continued.

“We do have so many fond beautiful memories of a man who adored his two children and family and loved what he did – from his job to his sports and his hobbies,” it recounted.

Members of the local events industry were shocked to hear of Mr Farrugia’s passing, with many taking to the post’s comments section to offer their condolences.

“Our hearts are broken and he will be sorely missed. May he find the peace he always loved out by the sea which game him so much peace and tranquility,” MI Malta concluded.
