The Malta International Airport (MIA) announced that it is investing €2 million to overhauling its food court on Level -1.

The project is set to be finished by 2022.

“Guest feedback has consistently shown us that the food offering contributes greatly to an elevated airport experience,” MIA Head of Retail and Property George Mallia said.

“With this in mind, as well as the fact that, over the years, the airport has become a popular dining destination in the south of Malta, the company decided to embark on the food court project at a strategic time when there is pent-up demand for out-of-door experiences and travel is gradually picking up,” Mr Mallia continued.

The new and improved food court will provide a much wider and more international food offering catering to different tastes through the introduction of five new eateries.

The outlets are set to feature some of the island’s favourite homegrown brands and a restaurant.

All five eateries will introduce a street-food concept to the Malta International Airport and, together with Burger King and KFC, will be geared at guests looking to grab a quick bite before proceeding with their journey.

The food court’s reimagined aesthetic will be created through the use of large lighting features, rich materials, plush seating, and touches of greenery.
