Satya Nadella

As the COVID-19 crisis continues to batter Inidia, where daily reported cases have surpassed 300,000 for five days in a row, the CEO of Microsoft, Satya Nadella, has pledged his support to his native country.

“I am heartbroken by the current situation in India,” the CEO wrote on social medial. “I’m grateful the U.S. government is mobilizing to help.”

“Microsoft will continue to use its voice, resources, and technology to aid relief efforts, and support the purchase of critical oxygen concentration devices.”

Nadella responded to the US Government’s announcement that it will offer its assistance to the Indian government to help fight the surge.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken tweeted yesterday “We are working closely with our partners in the Indian government, and we will rapidly deploy additional support to the people of India and India’s health care heroes.”

In 2020, Microsoft said that it assisted Indian hospitals, start-ups and the food industry during the initial COVID-19 outbreak, and helped provide access to online learning courses and digital skills to approximately 3 million people.
