Carlos Abela, Chief Commercial Officer at local food and beverage distributor Nectar, revealed that the company donated a container’s worth of foodstuffs to the people of Ukraine.
“Right now, millions of Ukrainian people have no place to call home and urgently require the most basic of needs, such as food, in the midst of very cold temperatures and violent conflict,” Mr Abela wrote on social media.
“Responding to this crisis, Nectar has donated a full container of foodstuff to the people of Ukraine, together with heartfelt wishes and prayers that this dark time will be over soon,” he continued.
Russia began its military invasion of Ukraine almost a month ago, on 24th February. Since then, the war has caused at least 19,000 fatalities, an estimate of $119 billion in property damage, and displaced around 10 million individuals.
Founded in 1991, Nectar is now a leading importer and distributor in Malta’s food and beverage sector. The company represents a plethora of well-renowned local and international brands, including Pfanner, Orbit, Three Hills, and Mayor.
Mr Abela joined Nectar as CCO back in February 2010.
