Tech.mt CEO Wayne Grixti on Monday reaffirmed the organisation’s focus on fostering growth in local technology while also attracting foreign investment.

He said this following the announcement that Tech.mt has partnered with UAE-based Gulf Xellence, Safeer Corporate Services Provider and Business gate to organise an annual global technology conference in Malta. This collaborative agreement will “continue to consolidate” Tech.mt’s mission to put Malta “on the forefront of the tech industry on both a European and global level”, allowing for increased opportunities and exposure to local technology companies. It will also attract international businesses to “start up, operate, and trial” their new technologies locally.

“Nurturing local tech growth and attracting foreign direct investment remain top of the agenda for Tech.mt,” Mr Grixti said.

Through such agreements, the organisation “aims to fulfil its mission” and offer the local tech community a platform to “promote their work and celebrate their successes”. Additionally, businesses are also able to explore opportunities to “scale up, future-proof their business, and explore new niches for potential business investment”.

The memorandum of understanding was signed in the presence of Ambassador to the Republic of Malta to the UAE Maria Camilleri Calleja, after “months of positive relationship” that the Embassy has built with Business Gate CEO Laila Rahhal El Atfani and Safeer Corporate Services Provider CEO Abdul Aziz Ahmad.

Tech.mt is a partnership created by the Government of Malta and the Malta Chamber of Commerce to promote Malta as a “tech centre for innovative technologies”. It is driven by the willingness to expand the value of Malta’s technology industry and promote the country as a “suitable set-up for foreign direct investment”.
