“This is an immense honour for AX Construction and one we do not take lightly,” said Denise Micallef Xuereb, Director of Construction and Development at AX Group, who will be entrusted with the extension and refurbishment of St John’s Co-Cathedral in Valletta.
Commenting on the Group’s successful tendering bid to carry out the works, Ms Micallef Xuereb said that the restoration of such a sensitive project marks a milestone in the Group’s vision “of regenerating and restoring value to our beloved capital city”.
The Group shared how Ms Micallef Xuereb’s responsibility for this project continues to build on the founding principles set out by her father, AX founder, Angelo Xuereb, to restore Valletta’s heritage.
“Just as AX Group is building its own legacy of succession, we strive to add value to the Co-Cathedral so that it can be enjoyed by locals and visitors for generations to come.”
In a statement, the Group shared that refurbishment works will be caried out on the Co-Cathedral’s existing exhibition areas and the restoration of the façade along the building’s perimeter, as well as the construction of a new exhibition hall close to the Cathedral’s Oratory and Bartolott Crypt.
