When many of us think of marking a major milestone in our lives, our thoughts tend to make an instant shift to a celebration – throwing a party or sharing a toast with friends. But as Philip Camilleri’s 50th birthday approaches, he has something else in mind.
The Consultant Clinical Oncologist and Clinical Director for urological cancers and MR Linac at GenesisCare UK has embarked on a fundraising drive for Prostate Cancer UK, setting himself a personal running challenge.
“I turn 50 this month and to mark the occasion I will be running 50km in the next five weeks. That’s an average of 10km per week, so not quite Iron Man levels but enough of a challenge for me,” he writes on crowdfunding platform JustGiving.
With a £1,000 target, the campaign has already raised £766 at the time of writing and looks on track to reach Philip’s goal in aid of Prostate Cancer UK, an organisation which fights to help more men survive prostate cancer and enjoy a better quality of life.
