Following a previous announcement made by HSBC Bank Malta p.l.c on 22nd September, the bank has now confirmed that regulatory approval has been obtained for Steven Marc Beddow to take on the role of Chief Risk Officer (CRO).
The appointment becomes effective from 7th November.
Mr Beddow succeeds Gerard Walsh, who relinquished his post on 4th November.
The new CRO has been working at HSBC for the past two decades, having held roles in the Channel Islands and Isle of Man, Monaco, France, the UK, the US, Mexico, UAE, Canada, and Hong Kong.
His new role in Malta will not be the first CRO role Mr Beddow has occupied. In fact, prior to taking on this position he was CRO for HSBC Channel Islands and Isle of Man.
Mr Beddow has also held a number of Directorial positions, served on country-level executive committees, led transformation work, and has co-sponsored a country level diversity and inclusion committee.
He is an Oxford graduate, having obtained a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Modern Languages from the University of Oxford.
