Chloe and Tristen Portelli

Chloe and Tristen Portelli, the daughter and son of Owner and Gozitan developer Joseph Portelli, have been appointed Executive Directors at Mercury Towers Ltd.

The announcement was made by Mercury Projects Finance plc, the finance company of Mercury Group, on Friday (today).

It stated that the pair have been appointed to the Board of Directors of Mercury Towers Ltd and its subsidiary companies, apart from the finance company.

The subsidiary companies include Mercury Commercial Mall Ltd, Mercury Hotel Ltd, and Mercury Car Park II Ltd. These companies were formed to own, develop, and operate different areas of the Mercury Towers project in St Julian’s.

Their appointments came into effect on the same day as the announcement.

Ms Portelli is the former General Manager of Quaint Boutique Hotels, and has also served as Marketing and Events Manager at Mercury Towers.

Mr [Tristen] Portelli is known for having served as the youngest local football club President, after he was appointed to the position at Nadur Youngsters FC at the age of just 19, taking over from his father in 2020. He stayed in the role until the end of the last football season, which came to an end last April.

The Mercury Towers project, designed by the late Zaha Hadid, consists of the restored Grade II listed Mercury House, accompanied by a 33-floor residential tower – Malta’s tallest to date – and the five-star ME Malta Hotel by Meliá. A commercial mall and an accompanying car park were opened in 2023, and an entertainment area was also opened earlier this year.
