The Convenience Shop (Holding) plc on Wednesday announced that John Muscat Drago has submitted his resignation from his post as Chief People Officer (CPO), with effect on the same day.

He had joined the company in August 2022, and was tasked with leading and directing the people agenda within the local retail chain. Mr Muscat Drago focused on nurturing an employee experience where “each and every person is key and important.”

It proceeded to thank Mr Muscat Drago for his services and wished him success in his new endeavours.

The Convenience Shop opened its first outlet back in 2009 and has since become a major player in the local retail industry, with over 80 outlets located across different areas in Malta.

The company confirmed that until a suitable replacement is “identified and appointed,” the functions and tasks previously carried out by Mr Muscat Drago will be temporarily assumed by the group’s Human Resources (HR) Manager.

Mr Muscat Drago is a seasoned HR professional, having held senior and top management positions in the sector for over 30 years, both within the public and private sectors. These included transport, tourism, HR, and management consulting across a wide range of business areas.

He is a Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration graduate from University of Malta.
