Local retail chain The Convenience Shop plc has announced the appointment of David Tabone as Group CEO.
Mr Tabone, who will be taking on the new role on 2nd January 2025, will be replacing interim CEO Joseph Pace.
Mr Pace stepped in following Martin Agius’ resignation earlier this month, after he left his post citing personal health reasons. From January, Mr Pace, one of the Co-Founders of the group, will be relinquishing his position as Interim CEO and will remain as an Executive Director on the Board of Directors.
Mr Tabone has over two decades of experience in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) and hospitality industries.
Since May 2019, Mr Tabone has served as the CEO of Tryfon Tseriotis Ltd, a leading FMCG company in Cyprus, where he received significant milestones, including being named as the fourth Best Great Place to Work in Cyprus and recognised as a Top 150 CEOs in Cyprus by Forbes.
Prior to this role, he was the Senior Sales and Brand Manager at Alf. Mizzi & Sons (Marketing) Group. During his tenure, he led the sales and marketing departments in retail and foodservice and played a pivotal role in establishing the ‘Very Short Shelf Life’ department.
Mr Tabone holds a degree in hospitality management from the Institute of Tourism Studies (ITS) in Malta.
The company noted that with Mr Tabone’s “proven leadership and track record in the FMCG sector make him the ideal person to lead the group into the next phase of its growth.”
