American Express Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Stephen J. Squeri has said that he doesn’t see all of the company’s employees making a return to the office.
“I don’t think the work environment as we left it, will be the work environment we come back to,” the CEO reportedly stated at Citi’s Global Property CEO Conference yesterday.
Instead, the US card company’s CEO noted that American Express may consider taking advantage of the larger talent pool available in cities in which the company doesn’t have offices in recruitment drives moving forward.
Last January, the New York-based company extended its work from home policy to this coming September, and the CEO went on to hint that it may be extended further until the end of the year.
Mr Squeri is the latest CEO to weigh in on the work from home debate, with industry leaders across the globe butting heads about whether they will continue to adopt remote working policies beyond the pandemic.
