Norman Aquilina

Farsons Group CEO Norman Aquilina shared a number of reflections that have helped him ‘keep a steady lead’ and a ‘healthy corporate pulse’ – but not before underlining that a leader’s success is heavily dependent on their team’s efforts.

One of the best-known local business leaders, Mr Aquilina has helped lead Farsons Group from strength to strength, with recently published numbers showing that the group’s revenues for the latest financial year (1st February 2021 to 31st January 2022) have virtually reached pre-pandemic levels.

Kicking off his list of seven CEO reflections, Mr Aquilina noted that “becoming a CEO does not automatically make you a leader. Fundamentally, you first need to earn it.”

Several of Mr Aquilina’s recommendations hold the values of collaboration and teamwork at their core, as he advises leaders to “surround [themselves] with a challenging team which constantly drives performance and promotes a results-oriented mindset.”

“Never overlook that your most prized asset is your human resource,” the Group CEO highlights, as he urges readers to “promote empowerment, collective collaboration, and a sense of initiative, but likewise responsibility and accountability.”

Mr Aquilina goes on to tackle issues related specifically to company values and operations.

“Ensure that the strategic vision, core values, and corporate culture are clearly communicated, well-rooted, and actively practiced,” he wrote, before emphasising the importance of “[embracing] change when needed, along with any technological advancements.”

“Do not just measure performance solely on profitability or financial considerations, but also on purpose,” he concluded.
